Track 5: Brain Tumour and Imaging

Brain tumors are classified on the basis of the location of the tumor and the type of tissue involved and may be malignant or benign.

Primary brain tumors arise from the brain cells and include astroglial tumors, oligodendroglial tumors, neuroglial tumors, ependymal tumors, embryonal cell tumors , and germ-cell tumors.

Secondary or metastatic tumors metastasize from another part of the body and are more common than primary brain tumors.

The most common types of cancer that spreads to the brain include melanoma, breast, colon and lung.

The clinical signs and symptoms related to mass effect like seizures, headache and neurological and cognitive deficits.Chemotherapy treatment of brain tumour is done with anti-cancer drugs which are given to destroy or control cancer cells.

Morphological assessment is done by using computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging which is still the workhorse of tumor detection.

Track 6: Stroke and its Management

Stroke occurs when an artery supplying blood to the brain either suddenly becomes blocked or begins to bleed which may result in part of the brain dying or leading to a sudden impairment that can affect a range of activities such as speaking, movement, thinking and communication.

Therapies to prevent recurrent stroke are also a component of acute management which are similar to prophylactic medical or surgical therapies used for patients with transient ischemic attacks and high-risk patients.

The goal of neurosurgery is to restore blood flow to the brain and reduce the risk of stroke.

I am writing to extend a warm welcome to participants to Stroke 2016 and to express our excitement and enthusiasm regarding the plans for this 2nd International Conference on Neurological disorders and Stroke. Stroke 2015 which was recently held in Birmingham, UK was a resounding success, bringing together a number of outstanding international speakers. We were privileged to host world renowned contributors from over 15 countries working on key aspects of mechanisms of stroke pathology, risk factors, treatments and rehabilitation. In addition to three days of exciting seminars the meeting incorporated a poster session that included posters on the roles of different cell types in the stroke pathology, characterization of novel animal models of stroke and innovative approaches to rehabilitation. We take great pleasure in welcoming you to Stroke 2016 and understand that this will be an excellent opportunity for disseminating new research findings as well as enabling investigators to explore innovative and emerging aspects of this critically important research field.

Howard Prentice

Professor, Florida Atlantic University, USA.

Unfortunately, also in the developing countries hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia are very abundant. For this reason, stroke is a major threat for all these patients. Thus, this conference is really timely and will inform on symptoms, diagnosis and modern treatment of stroke patients. I hope that many neurologists and physicians of other disciplines will take the opportunity to come to Dubai to attend this important meeting. Your will be rewarded by cutting edge information and certainly also by a breathtaking city and environment.

Heinz Reichmann

Dean,University of Dresden, Germany.

The expanding horizon of neurological disease has embraced numerous neurological disorders with cutting edge advancement in understanding and management of these illnesses. The theme of our conference is around ‘Novel Approaches & Development in Neurological Disorders & Stroke’. Hundreds of millions of people worldwide are affected by neurological disorders, approximately 6.2 million people die because of stroke each year; over 80% of deaths take place in low- and middle-income countries.  More than 50 million people have epilepsy worldwide. It is estimated that there are globally 35.6 million people with dementia, with 7.7 million new cases every year, Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia and may contribute to 60 -70% of cases. The prevalence of migraine is more than 10% worldwide. As a member of the organizing committee member of the Stroke 2016, It is my pleasure to welcome you to this important event with great honour and respect, we are delighted to invite you to be part of Stroke 2016.
